Hi, I'm Niels

With over 10 years of experience, I design user experiences across all digital touch points. I’m currently designing the future of healthcare at the Experience Design department of Philips. Excels at design thinking, UI design and prototyping.

As a self-taught developer, I have a passion for pushing the boundaries of design through code. From prototyping, developing apps to contributing to open-source projects. I sometimes blog about it too.

Awarded Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) for Windows Development in 2020 and 2021.

I’m based in the Netherlands, together with my wife and 2 sons.

Stuff I'm good at:

- UX design: framing core problems and create concepts of elegant solutions.
- UI design: rapidly turn concepts in wireframes or high-fidelity mock-ups using design language systems.
- UX prototyping and exploration: skilled in hands-on prototyping (using various technologies, such as .NET, WinUI and Unity). Experience using novel UI technologies such as conversation UI, AR/VR, AI and eye-gaze control.
- Collaborator: interfacing between design, engineering, business and marketing.
- Tech enthusiast: always up-to-date on the latest technology trends and able to recognize (business) opportunities they may bring.  
- Microsoft MVP: highly experienced in many core Microsoft technologies, such as .NET development, Power Platform, SharePoint, Office 365 and Azure.
